Kid Klown no Crazy Chase is an cute isometric action game by Kemco.
The princess of the Klown Kingdom has been kidnaped by the evil
Blackjack and it is a young clown given duty to bring her back. However,
despite this interesting background story, the goal of the game is to run
down a hill and to stop a bomb before it blows up. And to do so, our hero has
the crazy mission to stop the really long fuse from lighting the bomb.
Kid Klown can move sideways and the up/down buttons are used to change
his speed - this obviously implies that our friend can't run backwards and
backtrack his steps. Stages are of course full of hazards and Blackjack won't leave our
clown friend alone for a second. The game requires a lot more than
jumping over obstacles (such as small bushes, puddles, spikes and banana
peels) - Kid Klown also has to dodge cars, logs, giant axes and boulders
thrown at him. Floating balloons are also scattered around each stage and
must be jumped at to free playing cards, coins and various other items
hidden inside. If Kid Clown fails to find four different cards
(Hearts, Spades, Diamonds and Clubs), he has to go back to the
beginning of the stage and try again - thankfully, any already collected
card stays in his equipment. The game also counts few hidden bonus
stages and two mini games where all the accumulated coins scattered
around the game can be used to buy lives and continues.

Kid Klown had a surprisingly long career and was the hero of
numerous exploits. The first game released by Kemco and featuring
a clown-like character seems to be Kid Klown in Night Mayor World (Famicom, 1993).
However, this title shares little in common with our bomb extinguisher.
A sequel to the Super Famicom game later came out as
Kid Klown in Crazy Chase 2: Love Love Hani Sōdatsusen (Playstation, 1996).
A puzzle game followed as Kid Klown no Krazy Puzzle (Playstation, 1997)
(aka The Bombing Island in the west). Finally, the original Super
Famicom game was re-released (and completely remixed with several brand new stages)
as Crazy Chase (GameBoyAdvance, 2002).

Kid Klown no Crazy Chase is a fun and unusual game.
But be warned, all the action follows a 3/4 diagonal line and controls
can be a bit awkward (and unresponsive) at first. Patience
will the get you through this and the game will slowly reveal itself.
Kid Klown is full of surprises and the game displays some greatly
detailed animations and beautifully drawn graphics. However,
the game can become rapidly unfair. Kid Klown can't walk
backwards and this can be a pain, especially when you have to collect
four cards to carry on your journey. Despite these flaws,
Kid Klown no Crazy Chase is a fun and cute little game.
