Shogi (Japanese Chess) game
|
Morita shogi PC is a kind of fantasy based Shogi game, which is a
very popular Japanese game close to chess. Two players fight on a 9x9 grid, the player's
legion on one side against opposing forces on the other side. Like chess,
pawns are in the front line and knights, rocks, bishops stand at the back.
The goal of the game is to checkmate the king. Morita shogi is different as
it features animated pieces, with walking and fighting pieces, a bit like
the now classic Battle Chess. Players can still play in normal mode or fight another player
using the GT link.

The way how pieces are positioned
can be a bit confusing, and unlike Chess, there is
no black or white - only pieces facing you are enemies. But I
guess the traditional Shogi game suffers from the same design...
But all in all it is a good game, and unlike normal Shogi
pieces (which usually have Chinese characters written on them) the ones here
are really easy to decipher.
Although the original game is also available to play, Morita shogi PC is
not a game for everyone for sure,
but still fun to play if you know the rules of Shogi.
