Kei and Yuri, two cute space investigators, are the
heroines of this side-scrolling action game by Bandai and based
on the popular animation series Dirty Pair. A distant planet is
suffering civil war and the two girls are sent to investigate the situation.
The players starts by taking control of the red-haired Kei. She can
jump and fire using her laser-gun and the goal of the fist part of the game
is to reach the enemy's lair. Once there, Yuri joins the party on a
flying-bike. If Kei can make it quickly enough, she can jump on
the bike and fly through the rest of the stage. However, make sure she
doesn't hit a wall or any obstacles on the way or she will have to finish
it on foot. Once their destination is reached, the game switches to a more
static room mode where Kei infiltrates a building and move
from room to room, looking for items such as floppy discs and unlock doors.
This part definitively brings in a degree of adventure element to the game.
A two simultaneous player mode is also available and get Rei and
Yuri into battle as the same time.

Dirty Pair made its debut as a comic book series by Haruka Takachiho.
In the future, humanity has spread all around the universe. An association of special
agents exist to help the various solar systems to deal with their local problems. The
series tell the story of a team of two cute agents, Kei and Yuri. They
are code named the Lovely Angels and happen to heavily mess-up any mission they
are assigned to. But the association recognizes their talents by acknowledging the
fact that they never fail such missions. Dirty Pair: Project Eden is an animation
movie released in 1987 and featuring the duo. As a side note, the series was called
Dirty Pair in the US, Dan & Danny in France and Kate & July in
Italy. As far as I know, Dirty Pair: Project Eden for the Famicom Disk System
was the only video game ever released featuring Kei and Yuri.

I do not want to sound like a thankless and sad player but seriously
Dirty Pair: Project Eden is an ugly game. This was one of the
most immediately striking things about the game.
Graphics are, simply put, ugly.
Backgrounds are blocky and messy, especially when Kei and
Yuri fly at full speed on their futuristic flying bike - it gets
damn hard to focus and see obstacles. Controls are also bland - you're never
really sure where the hell Kei will land after a jump.
Dirty Pair: Project Eden may attract fans of the animation series,
but even so, I would just recommend to stay away from it.
