This game is the adaptation of Toaplan arcade game Hellfire released in 1989.
It is a horizontal shooter featuring a selectable gun direction.
Human forces have been destroyed by invading aliens and only two
girls and their formidable ships can now save humanity. You have four
different weapons from the beginning: forward shot, backward shot,
2 ways shot (vertical) and 4 ways shot(diagonal). Picking a 'P'
floating icon will increase your active weapon. This game also
feature a 2-players simultaneous play.

This game was licensed, distributed and manufactured by Taito which
explains why Taito name appears sometimes next to Hellfire. A Megadrive
version released in 1990 also exists but only the PC Engine version
has an introduction sequence and end of stage animations. Stop reading
now if you do not want the end of Hellfire to be spoiled. I warned
you. Ok, let's continue. In the PC Engine version, the blonde girl decides
to sacrifice herself and crash into the alien space station, the end sequence
finishing on her torned hair-bow floating in space. I wonder if this
ending is part of the original version or just an added bonus to this version.
If we can call it his way.

There is something missing in this game. It is a nice shooter,
the game introduction presents an alien invasion but later stages
shows pyramides and floating 'egyptian like' enemies. And I
still find the weapon system a bit weird and hard to use.
Even if it is a Toaplan game, it is far from the best.
